Slab Buying Guide

Slab Buying Guide

How to begin planning for your next home remodeling project.

Measure your space

To begin the planning process you will first need to get an idea of how much material is needed for your countertop. Measure the total length and width of each section of your countertop. Multiply the length and width of each section. Add up the total of each section and divide by 144 to get the total square feet of your countertop.

Example:
Section 1: 55"x26"= 1430"
Section 2: 96.5"x30"= 2895"
Section 1 + Section 2= 4325"
4325 / 144= 30.03 sf

$95-170 Sq. Ft.

Per square foot

The total cost for slabs will be based on two things. The first is the particular variety of material you select and the second is the amount of the material you will need to complete your project.

Solid slab fabrication installations can run anywhere between $95-170 per square foot. This depends on your contractor, particulars of your project and your location. The cost of installation generally includes: material fabrication, edge detail and polishing, cutouts for fixtures, removal of your old countertop and final installation.

Sealant Costs

Most natural stone slabs, like granite, will need to be sealed after installation. This seal will need to be maintained over time and helps to prolong the beauty of the countertop.
